How we get our numbers
Every rate and statistic on this site is computed from real policies placed through our service — here is exactly how, and what the figures do and don't mean.
Who we are
LifeInsurancePlans.com is a free comparison and matching service. We are not an insurance carrier and we do not sell insurance directly: when you request a quote, we match you with licensed carriers or agents who can quote and write coverage in your state. We may receive compensation from partners, which can affect with whom you are matched — never the figures we publish.
The dataset
Our published figures come from internal placement records of 38,308 policies placed through our service between January 2020 and July 2026, across final-expense and life-insurance lines. Pages about life insurance plans additionally use the life-insurance segment: 1,595 policies placed between October 2025 and July 2026.
- Each record is one placed policy: the premium as sold, the buyer's age band, gender, state, and coverage amount.
- Records are de-duplicated across systems before any statistic is computed.
- No personal information is ever published — only aggregates.
How figures are computed
- Medians, not averages, wherever possible — a few large policies would otherwise distort the picture.
- Minimum sample sizes: a rate cell must contain at least 15 policies to be served by our live rate lookup, and at least 8 to appear in a published table. Below that we print "—" or hedge the wording.
- The n is visible: tables and statistics state how many policies stand behind each number.
- Rolling windows: "current" rates use roughly the most recent 24 months of placements; trend figures state their exact years.
